There are a number of mapping resources that are available for the use of the emergency services. At one point in the 1980’s Help Systems operated within Schuylkill County. There had been some arrangements to have specific sections of the county completed and updated after that point. In reality, since the inception of street style addressing in the 1990’s, there has been no reason to continue an alternate method of location; however, Schuylkill has preserved the original data and it is incorporated into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System in the event someone is still giving a H.E.L.P. Number along with an address.
There are map booklets available for each of the townships that list roadways and the number scheme for each section. You may download these for use within the emergency service community. These may not be publicly distributed, posted or displayed.
We have also included links to maps available for download from Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PENNDOT) and the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
You may also be interested in two BSA Eagle Scout Service Projects that involve mapping of Air Medical Landing Sites and Rural Water Sources. Both were regional projects within the southern Schuylkill area and completed by scouts from Troop 625 of Schuylkill Haven.
The Air Medical Landing Site project was completed by Kevin Patrick Matz.
The Rural Water Source Mapping project was completed by Connor Michael Matz.
The templates for both projects have been made available to the Schuylkill County Fire Chiefs Association, if anyone desires to extend the project beyond the original boundaries or update information.
