Fire departments urged to stand down for firefighter safety
Fairfax, Va., May 24, 2005 - The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) and 13 partnering fire service organizations are calling for all fire departments in the nation to conduct a "stand down" for firefighter safety beginning Tuesday, June 21. As of May 1, there have been 50 line-of-duty firefighter deaths - that is 10 more than at this same time last year. Details here.

School Shooter Quick Action Deployment Training - February 2005
More than 100 firefighters, EMS personnel and law enforcement officials recently participated in School Shooter Quick Action Deployment (QUAD) Training. The training, which spanned three days, provided instruction to officers from Schuylkill and Berks Counties on how to work together to diffuse situations such as the Columbine school shootings.
